Meet Your Teacher
Ruth Duggan is a seasoned occupational therapist with over 35 years of experience supporting individuals in achieving independence, improving function, and re-entering the workforce.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1988, Ruth worked across rehabilitation settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and community care. Her focus shifted to vocational rehabilitation in the mid-1990s while at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre, where she became skilled in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) and Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT).
From 1997 to 2000, Ruth worked internationally with the Kuwait-Dalhousie Rehabilitation Center, where she provided neurological outpatient services and helped train local therapists in areas like stroke rehab and seating and mobility.
Upon returning to Nova Scotia, she completed a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at Dalhousie University, with research centered on reflective practice for client-centered care. In 2002, she co-founded Cornerstone Occupational Therapy Consultants, now one of the province’s leading community-based providers of functional assessments, vocational evaluations, and return-to-work services.
Cornerstone’s services include job demands analysis, mental health and brain injury rehab, life care planning, and Transferable Skills Analyses (TSAs) to support clients’ transition back to the workforce after injury or disability.
