Introduction to theĀ Transitions Vocational Assessment Services.
Presenter: Ruth Duggan, MsCOT, Reg, NS
Date: Thursday 6 March 2025 at 11:00 am AST
This is a free webinar recommended for occupational therapists and vocational consultants who are interested in advancing their practice with Transferable Skills Analysis.
Your presenter, Ruth Duggan, is an occupational therapist with over 35 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities. I am part of Cornerstone Occupational Therapy Consultants, a team of 12 occupational therapists based in Nova Scotia. We regularly conduct Transferable Skills Analyses (TSA) to assess clients’ ability to return to work following a disability. We have found that there are, however, some challenges related to conducting TSAs, particularly in navigating the updated National Occupational Classification (NOC) and Occupational and Skills Information System (OaSIS).
At Cornerstone, we have developed a process for completing TSAs with a focus on thoroughness and consistency. To support our assessments, we developed the TransitionsAppĀ which integrates the new NOC and OaSIS structure.
The online app requires an on-demand education program consisting of 7 modules that cover each step of the TSA, from referral and information gathering to using the Transitions Vocational Assessment app for detailed analysis, labour market surveys, and report generation.
In this free webinar, we will review the background leading to the development of the Transitions VA service, and take a guided tour of the app itself.Ā And there will be lots of time for questions and answers.Ā
